There are over 1300 varieties of bamboo
worldwide, so we only grow a few of these. We give tours of our
bamboo groves at Nobles Century Farm
by appointment. We sell fresh-dug bamboo at the farm and also ship
our products throughout the mid-Atlantic region.

Since our farm is in USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 8 (Average minimum
temperature of 20-30 degrees F), most of our groves are temperate
("running") bamboos. We have additional varieties in pots.

we grow.

Tropical ("clumping") bamboos will not survive our winter temperature
in groves, so we grow only a few of our favorite varieties in pots.
(These have to be moved to our green house each fall.) Click on

Bamboo is one of the most utilized plants in the
world. It can be used for crafts, privacy fencing or for beautiful
accents to any landscape. But, like many plants, uncontained bamboo
can spread and become a nuisance. Particularly for temperate bamboos,
we highly recommended that you install a barrier to prevent the
spread of the underground rhizomes.

We market some of our flowers, mostly
geophytes (bulbs, corms, rhizomes, tubers). We are particularly
interested in heirloom flowers and in Hippeastrums (commonly known
as Amaryllis). We currently offer an heirloom Iris on our website and
we will be expanding our offerings of Hippeastrums in the future.

Bamboo for Gardens. At some point in the future we
plan to offer more books on bamboo,local historical and genealogical
publications, and other items we find "interesting".
